Humanimals Poem by George Arkar

Humanimals

i listen
to songs at very high volume
and sing
along with 'em
hoping
i don't break any rules.

i take
things more
than i ever need
from the tables of public use
believing
that's my right.

i have
trees cut
i have
rivers silted up with my used stuff
i have
a deaf ear and blind eye turned
to all forms of
the loss of humanity

but still...
i eat
and drink
thinking
i'm a human being
in the age
of democracy.
