Humanity Poem by Nitya Baldava

Humanity

Is it what keeps us
From killing each other?
Or is it what causes us
To hate, to seek vengeance?

Is it what pushes us
To ask questions?
Or is it what leads us
To assume?

Is it what sustains
Our will to live?
Or is it what causes us
To jump off buildings?

Is it what provokes us
To make the human mistakes we make
And yet, seek perfection?

Is humanity what makes us human?
Or is it what justifies
All the inhuman things we do?
