Humanity First! Poem by Ishrat khan

I wished to be a pilot
to fly with clouds high
But what if I'm struck by lightning
and along with passengers die?
I wished to be an astronaut
To explore Mars and Moon
But what If I'm trapped on space
and don't return back soon?
I wished to be a doctor
But then I realized
What if i couldn't cure
and save someone's life?
I wished to be a dancer
On stage to show my grooves
But what if I fall out
and forget all the moves?
I wished to be successful
But I feared the vain
What If I get affluent
and money make me go insane?
After all these thoughts
I wished I could be one
But my dad told me endearingly
'First be the humanity before what you wish to become'
