Humiliation Poem by Ragy Sandid

Humiliation

There comes a time when we taste sour
To learn to savor the taste of sweet
Humiliation is when there is this hour
When the taste of both within us meet

When we search for salvation
We follow any road it's likely to take
Headed by a dreaded demon of damnation
We follow knowing it's a mistake

We hear words howling and hollow
We believe it's a truth of then and there
No matter how empty we follow
Thinking we'll walk away from the lair

Then we stand angels and demons in us
Hell and heaven blazing on our fingertips
We're not sure which sign to trust
And truth and lies race us to our lips

That is the moment of pride and power
That is the moment of change and ability
That is the moment of a minute within an hour
Where the choice is humiliation or humility
