Hungover Poem by Holly Lewis

Hungover

My heart is racing
Like the speed of a train
My head is pounding
Like the force of pouring rain
My head is spinning
Like a spinning top
My legs are wobbly
And I want it to stop
My thoughts are confusing
Like a cross word puzzle
My vision is blurry
Like my reflection in a puddle
My touch is sensitive
Like ice to teeth
And my memory is forgotten
As though taken by a thief
My memory returns
As I remember last night
All of these feelings
Due to drink till morning light
I'm regretful I'm ashamed
I no longer want to be
The alcohol binging person
That's become of me.

Good write. I speak from experience having drunk my way around the world with the Army, Rugby and just my own personal predeliction for stupidity and excess. I wrote something about alcohol a while back called 'Half Past a Headache' I enjoyed your poem very much, thank you for posting.
