Hyderabad Encounter Killing

poetic justice
delivered in twin cities
by hard-pressed police;
lauded, for.they were gritty
in performing their duties

the alternative,
-as seen in Nirbhaya case-
just palliative;
seven years gone, at snail's pace
convicts seem happily placed

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Sexual assault and murder of women have become fairly common in India. The on in 2012 in Delhi, where a young lady was raped and brutally murdered, stirred the nation. This is the Nirbhaya case. The crime was led by a juvenile, plus four adult men. The juvenile was in jail for 2 years and let off and rehabilitated. The remianingfour adults were sentenced to death.One died in custody. The other three are on death row and seeking mercy.
A similar case occurred in Hyderabad, few days ago. An young lady was raped and murdered by four men. The four men were caught. Today while they were being taken to the scene of crime, for reconstruction of the crime, the four convicts attacked the police and in the police retaliation all four were gunned down. The Police have taken a lot of risk as they will have to face scrutiny. But they have become heroes in the eyes of the public.
