Hymn Of Thanksgiving After Victory Poem by Cicely Fox Smith

Hymn Of Thanksgiving After Victory

Lord of Hosts, before whose frown
Nations in their might bow down,
Thou who bidd'st the strong man's might
Work Thy will in blood-red fight,
Lord of Hosts on land and sea,
Gloria tibi, Domine!

God of Battles, throned in might,
Thou whose arm is strong for right,
For the strength that Thou hast given
In the fight where we have striven,
Hear the soldier's thanks for Thee:
Gloria tibi, Domine!

God of Victory, Thou who made
Stalwart men and unafraid,
Ere in sweet repose we lie,
Ere we lay our harness by,
Stained with fight, we bow the knee:
Gloria tibi, Domine!
