'We can't see each other, anymore'
I said to him.
'But you need me'
He said,
'No, I don't. You're ruining my life,
Just please, stop calling this number, or
I will get it changed, along with my address'
I hung up the phone, and lit a cigarette.
He called me back-
'I think we got off on the wrong foot;
Can I come over, in a few minutes? '
He asked, I responded: 'No. Do not
Come here, again. She is going to
Find out.'
He sighed- 'Well, I'm already here,
So I will be up in a minute.'
I tried to tell him no, but he hung up
And within a few seconds, I heard
Footsteps coming up the hall.
I ran to lock the door-
Even the dead bolt:
I didn't want to die.
The foot steps stopped,
And I heard nothing, except
The termites feasting on the door
Between us.
I checked my phone, to delete the calls,
But there were none-
I grabbed a gun from my dresser
And took it into the bathroom,
And looked at myself in the mirror,
There, I saw him-
Looking straight at me, without blinking.
He said, 'I told you I was here'
I took the gun and put it in my mouth,
And without thinking, I...
