I saw you in the corner of my eye
Staring at me with a ready smile
I dared not look your way
For I won'’ t know what to say
Should you dare come near me
I would run away… ..

I felt your hand reach out to mine
Touching my skin like a frozen sun
I dared not reach back
Cause you might be too far
Should I reach out to nothing
I'’ d shiver with fear… ..

Hurt was my friend
Pain my companion
Solitude my ally..
And so is isolation

I never knew love
Never felt care
Never glimpsed joy
A stranger to elation… .
