I Poem by Charlotte Pinkney

I

I wandered like a leaf on woodland air,
I drifted quickly, here, then there!

I drifted over blue seas and lakes,
The waves trembled like there was a 'quake!

I drifted over huge fields and hills,
The birds sang their pretty trills!

I am the wind, a light gentle breeze
I am the thing that shakes all the trees.
