I Am Poem by Misty Major

I Am

Confidence and uncertainty.
Ambivalent and opinionated.

A disease that ravages the mind and soul.
The cure corked in the Apothecary's body.

The definition of clarity and reason,
Locked in a padded cell.

A murderess.
Lazarus.

An infant left to die behind a dumpster.
The prodigal child brought up in luxury.

The hourglass of life.
The destruction of space and time.

The melody of happiness.
The discord of hatred.

The carnival crier.
The freak behind the curtain.

The death of the innocent.
The truimph of the criminal.

The slap to the face.
The comforting embrace.

I am- the person dancing on the subway
To the music that one one else can hear.

I am- the altruism
Found in the return of a lost pet.

I am- a life long endeavor.

I am- a fleeting desire.

I am- the novel frayed at the edges from years of reading.

I am-.
