I Am A Flame Poem by Mark. A Heathcote

I Am A Flame

I am a flame that has danced a warpath.
I am a flame that has flickered and faded out of sight.
I am a flame that has danced in humble grace.
I am a flame that has burnt to leave no trace.
I am a flame that has let ego lead the way.
And faced an eternal disgrace without any roads
Any roads to save the day?
I am a flame that has left everyone behind.
I am a flame that has thrown away my name.
To find what truly binds me to this empty place
I am a flame that has trod its barren path.
I am a flame that has passion burning in its bones.
Even today, more than I had yesterday.
And especially tonight, such are mortals made of clay.
I am a flame that has to outshine the darkness.
But though I failed, I stayed on the same path.
Because what else am I to do?
Other than throwing away my burning heart
And admit all my mistakes as though they're hidden charms.
Glowing embers that have taken to rest without a spark.
