I Am A Plate Of Rice Poem by Minerva Montecalvo

I Am A Plate Of Rice

I am a plate of rice placed on a center table covered with aquamarine blue table cloth with embroidered sky blue lace on its edges. I really admire the pinkish roses on the center of the table, also the champagne and the heart shape form of a cake.

I was cordially invited in a wedding ceremony. Of course! They won't allow me no to attend never. But before this, I was then a grain of rice and as the days passed by, young leaves started to sprout over me. Then the farmers transferred me to a wide and seemed to an endless field. It was a sunny day and the sun rays are pinching me.

It took me so many months to grow very well. I underwent happy days that inspired me. And trials that also helped me to go on in my journey. And I can't forget the moment when the grains including me turned brownish and are ready to be harvested. Then harvesting time comes. We were harvested and grind ready to be in markets.

I was so excited to take another leap on my journey. And here I am! In front of this newly wed. My journey is unlike any other journey. Despite from all dilemma I experience, I'm so glad that I reached this stage - - being one of the rice on this plate.
