The heavy air has cleared at last,
The quiet fear belongs to yesterday.
No longer holding in my breath,
Or dreading what you'll do or say.
You stepped away, you walked away,
And claimed the fault was yours alone,
Unknowing that your silent exit
Was the greatest gift I've ever known.
The dark haze lifts, the weight is gone,
The days feel bright, lighthearted, light.
I am returning to myself,
Out of the storm and into light.
No longer bound by doubt or dread,
I laugh again, I dance, I smile.
I'm picking up the threads of life,
And free to thrive, mile after mile.
I breathe in peace, I stand up tall,
The painful chapter finally closed
A future built on happiness,
Unburdened, bright, and freely chosen. I will never look back at you again.
