I Am My Own Poem by Jacqueline McCauley

I Am My Own

I am my own
with understanding extended beyond
not given the same reprieve
I am judged without safety
I am my own
delivered to a crowd of dead
living in the in between
never given the chance to be
I am my own
no judgment to calculate
judged by all without thought
handed a weight crafted of emptiness
I am my own
I am not my own
