I Am No Longer Poem by Mark. A Heathcote

I Am No Longer

I am no longer your friend.
I am your lover.
And when I am no longer
Your lover, I will be your jailer.
And when I am no longer
Your jailer, I will be your would-be assassin.

And you will lie quite dead.
Out of breath and ask me.
Has our relationship
Got anything left?

And I will say, let us be friends and talk
And you will say, let us be lovers still.
And I will say, give me the keys to your heart.
Open your shuttered windows.
It's not me who keeps you locked in the dark.
