I am not my hair, it does not define me
For it's only a fraction of who I can be
It flows and it shines, but it's just a facade
For my true self is much more than a simple facade
In the morning I wake, to a messy mane
Tangled and wild, it's a sight to disdain
But with every stroke, as I tame the beast
I am reminded, my hair is not the least
It holds the memories, of all the years
The changes, the struggles, the joys and the fears
From braids and ponytails, to a daring cut
It tells a story, of my journey, so gut
I am not my hair, though it's part of me
It's just a canvas, for my soul to see
Each strand a thread, in the tapestry of my life
Intertwined with love, loss and strife
The color may change, from fiery red
To a soft shade of brown, as I grow ahead
But it's not my identity, it's just a hue
For I am not my hair, and neither are you
It may fall out, as I age and grow old
But the wisdom it holds, can never be sold
For every gray strand, is a lesson learned
A reminder to cherish, all that I've earned
I am not my hair, for it's just a part
Of my physical being, but not my heart
It may be thick and curly, or thin and straight
But it does not determine, my worth or fate
It may be long and flowing, or cut short
But it's not what defines me, it's just a cohort
In the journey of life, it may change and shift
But I am not my hair, that's just a myth
My hair may be styled, in a thousand ways
But it's not who I am, it's just a craze
For my true beauty, lies deep within
And my hair, is just a reflection, a mere spin
I am not my hair, for I am so much more
A warrior, a lover, a soul to adore
My hair may bring attention, but it's not what I seek
For my true essence, is not what's on my cheek
So when you see me, don't just see my hair
Look beyond the surface, and you'll find me there
For I am not my hair, it's just a part of me
But my heart and soul, are what truly set me free
I am not my hair, I am so much more
With dreams, ambitions, and a fire to explore
My hair may change, it may come and go
But my spirit remains, forever in flow
So next time you see me, remember this rhyme
For I am not my hair, it's just a sign
Of the person I am, and will always be
I am not my hair, I am simply me.
