I Am The Rainbow That Shines In The Darkness Poem by Kevin Patrick

I Am The Rainbow That Shines In The Darkness

Rating: 5.0

Why is it when I cry you always seem to laugh?
And raucously hackle when I'm dragging all these stones
Is it because my mantle isn't to your standards
Even though where brothers inside this ship of bones

Maybe I'm not the model measure of a man
And that disturbs your airtight dogma of what you can never comprehend
But let me tell you this much so that you Will understand
I am a living breathing person that YOU will never apprehend

And though I'LL' fall, and you'll mock I will still stand up
For I'll have something to rise and purpose to march
I might get more bruises and scrapes then on average
But I will persist through the agonies towards my eternal north star

For the tortured are nurtured with clear understanding
And I am the rainbow that shines in the darkness

A beautifully written poem on overcoming the worst being thrown at one. Especially when that one is a child. Wonderful last two lines! So filled with hope.
