I Am The Tree Poem by Bal Ram Adhikari

I Am The Tree

Rating: 5.0

First
Only I was there, sitting upright
I saw no one but myself

Second
Lo! Right before me, there was a tree,
Its leaves fluttering
The evening breeze was whistling
through the leaves
It was a good company- the distance between the tree and me was conspicuous though

Third
I was breathing in what the tree was breathing out
The tree was breathing in what I was breathing out

Fourth
I was in the life of the tree
The tree was inside me

Fifth
As I rose and walked away
I was carrying some tree in me
Now the tree was swaying in me
I was as if a moving tree
As I looked back over my shoulder
I saw the tree was standing there
Bearing some of my life in it
I was rising high in the branches of the tree
And sinking deep in the roots of the tree

Now I am thetree
The tree is me
