I Am Waiting Poem by Tamara Trombetta

I Am Waiting

I am waiting for the Curtain to fall
And I am waiting
For Justice to pull her blindfold back in place
And I am waiting
For the students to open their eyes
To the treasure their teachers hold before them
And I am waiting
For the conquerors’ history to be rewritten
And replaced by the untold stories of the losers
And I am waiting
For the rain to fall from the sky
That will wash, clean, and heal society’s festering sores forever
And I am waiting
For today’s squirrelly countries to stop hoarding anything
And everything
To share without reserve what they have
And I am waiting
For the senses to reawaken.

I am waiting for the sun to shine through the cloud of haze
And I am waiting
For everyone to hear the universal music
And join in the beat
And I am waiting
For Mona Lisa to reveal her happy secret
And I am waiting
For the day when no one will ask for some more
And I am waiting
To destroy power’s ring of corruption forever
And I am waiting
For each princess to find her Prince Charming
And I am waiting
For all those stars to pay up
And grant those wishes that dreamers have made
And I am waiting
For the masquerade to end
And the masks to come off
And I am waiting
for the senses to reawaken.
