I Am Wolf King - Poem by Louie Wiggins

I am an old gray wolf completing the vision of my dreams
I am wolf king
The alfa dog
The omega leading a pack of wolves
I am the first generation of my kind to roam the wild
I am an independent free canine predator running through a country without limits
I am a breed like no other
I am a legacy to a pedigree of wolverine
With my paw and my snout I hunt my prey
At my enemies I snarl fierce with razor sharp teeth
My neck hair raise on end ready to dart
My sent I do leave behind in earth and wind
It is meat my teeth ache for and my belly yearns to gnash
In the pitch blackness on moonless nights these eyes of mine shine forth
Gloaming over a twilight terrain
Scouring to find your hiding place
You mongrel beast trembling at these two beams
I am father and grandfather to litters pups suckling and runt
I am wolf king
