I Am Yours... Poem by SMYLEE ERDOGAN

I Am Yours...

Last time
Cover your loneliness tonight
Without dropping you into these lines
Every syllable on my tongue...

This darkness
The color of the night sky
Turns to blue
You are the captain
Of the floating ships of imagination

I am not without a harbor
My love
I have my lodgings
My mansions
My stops
I am not rootless, unattached, or flighty
I know belonging all too well.

Come without scattering
Your longing
Your yearning
Your passion
In every wave
Of nights like this
Reach out to me gently.

Cover yourself
Cover the stars
Stay in their shadow;
Your dark dreams, your secret lovemaking.
Let no one see you
My love falls under the evil eye
Don't block my gaze
Let your heart flow to me
I also know

You are my longing
The apple of my eye.

You must have reached silence!

I, whose eyes are as timid as a fawn's
I fear, I am ashamed
Without revealing my sorrow,
I interpreted your sorrows
From your fleeing waves.

I want fire, bucket by bucket,
Born into your Februaries.
I listen to the Aryan
In the silence of snow.
I don't want to die with water,
But throw your fiercest red hair
At me,
With every breeze.

I am the giver of dry fields.
I am the flower of longing
I want to gather and be gathered
From stubble,
Devoid of privilege and commercial motives
I am not from the auction markets
Perhaps I could be valued with you
But I am drowned in clover
I am a wildflower.

I wouldn't feed it, actually
All that pain inside me
I wanted to be the end
Always an end
Pregnant with beginnings
The moonrise of nights
In its pain
I could be a hopeful morning
For this reason
Now
Wake me up
I could be enough
To promise and be promised

Come to me

I've never been yours
Take me, smell me
Let me fill your lungs
Beyond innermost depths
I could be worthy
Of loving and being loved
You might be angry with me now
Are you a flood or a shipwreck?
Tell me
So be it I can break

Yet I belong to a torn flesh
I could be just a small patch
I've drowned in nothingness
I know well what it means to be half
Taken from your hands
I complete the halves
I dress them

I fight
Against giving up and being given up on
I can endure
But
I am a little like you
Like stubbornly blooming snowdrops
My soul chooses the difficult path
Even if I remain in the frost
This body
This flesh
This me
I open up, I open up
To living and sustaining life
I can resist
I can reach for your sky
To your long nights
To your sorrowful foam
Breath by breath, gasping
To your peaceful scent
I can blend in

Hold me

I am also difficult to choose
Chests full
My reds are deep
My blues are pale
And my eyes full of horizons
Bitter Coffee...
Let it be, I am yours, I am yours
I can always say

Like I'm more than myself
Choose
Like I'm not myself
Don't lose me
Love me
I can always erase
Hopefulness and hopelessness
At any time

Now cover me
Embrace me like the night
Come to me like the moon
Loneliness and my loneliness
I can abandon for you.
I am yours...
I am yours...
