I Begged You Poem by Okoemu Okoemu Okoemu

I Begged You

I found you quite interesting
So I didn't mind begging
Not for food or other help
But just to be your friend
You felt for that i would end
If you say no and refuse
You took me for granted
I was greatly slighted
By your attitude
All I needed was just you
As nothing but my dearest friend
But you felt I am not worth you
For the first time I begged
And it was you I begged
Yet you turned me down
Not minding the loneliness
That would bring upon me
How rejected and dejected
It would make me feel.
You ran from me
As one would run from incompatible lover
Yet I merely wanted just a friend in you
But you took it like it was all over
And now on my birthday
You are celebrating me
Something I know you did not mean
Why are you like this?
You eulogies me on my birthday
Whereas you are never close to me
When I died
You rained ecumium on me
You sang even a dirge
For me!
Yet, you never got close to me
You ran from me all through
As if I was a plaque
If one thing hurt me so dear to heart
It was the fact that you never
was a friend
You never took me so close
I know why
Because I know you
Yet i wanted a friend in you.
