Adam left God,
left Eden,
for Eve.
Eve was deceived,
but Adam knew and understood.
I never knew anything.
I never knew
why someone would want to live forever
until I met you.
I find myself forgetting to breathe
and not feeling the need for air
when I think back to you.
I know and understand
why Adam left God,
left Eden,
for Eve.
They were successful
in the end.
What, exactly, the right is,
completely eludes me,
especially in times like these.
I am a fool.
What is Eden
but a lonely garden?
Still, it is better
to have sacrificed
the great We,
than to have never been part of it.
I do miss you,
my Eden, my Paradise.
As I have stayed in Eden,
letting myself lose you,
choosing against the great We
for an even greater purpose,
a higher law,
than the law of the heart.
I have learned the difference
between the state of Paradise and the place of Eden.
In the end, though, the truth
is that without Eve,
Paradise is, in fact, lost,
and Eden is just a garden.
