I Can't Breathe Poem by Robert Noble

I Can't Breathe

My Name is George Floyd. Did you see what happened to me when I was pinned to the ground by the Minneapolis police?

I didn't understand why they were doing that to me. I wasn't resisting arrest and I wasn't trying to flee.

I asked the police to please let me stand because I cannot breathe while you have me held down.

I said it again, I can't breathe, but they didn't care. They just kept their knees pushed against my legs, back, neck, and head.

Now I am no longer here and it is hard to believe that they didn't let me stand when I said that I Can't Breathe.
