I can't promise you roses
Blooming bright in crimson red.
But when you need somebody,
I'll be right here instead.

I can't promise you perfection,
For perfect I am not.
I'm just like a lonely rose—
Thorns are all I've got,
And tears are what I've known.

I can't promise you riches
To wash your pain away.
But I can give you all my love
To share with you each day.

I can't promise you roses,
