I Could Jump The Track Poem by Nicola Thoner

I Could Jump The Track

While the moonlight watches
Shrouding me in thick silence.
I could jump the track.

The world rushes by,
I grasp at breezes
Of passing seconds.
Reaching for something solid,
But afraid to hold on.
I could jump the track.

The lights flicker
like passing stars,
Moments escalate to nothing.
My view is blocked by moving trains on separate rails, going in the wrong direction.
I could jump the track.

My perspective hindered
In these sharp moments,
The whistle of movement
deafens me.

All I am in these seconds,
A stranger evanescing.
Turn from this path,
You've lingered too long.
And jump the track.
Jump the track.
Jump.
