I Did Not Poem by Michael Saurer

I Did Not

I did not ask you
To charm my heart
How could you do
What others find hard
While only so few
Found a way to this part
Of my soul’s stew
Of lost and depart

I did not leave her
To find myself alone
But now I don’t care
my face in a frown
my mind in hell’s lair
my heart's not in stone
It is solemn and fair
A part of your throne

If I can’t be with my queen
Perhaps I’ll just remain
The way I may be seen
Perhaps just ruled by pain
And not truly keen
To find lucks golden strain
In the end my heart’d have been
Lost for your fame

I did not ask for
This part of life
Let’s not go to the core
It is like an old knife
That I can not restore
But I only strife
For your heart’s door
For the key to my life
