I Died Last Night Poem by Rik Bertrand

I Died Last Night

I died last night while I slept,
And I knew it was coming, as I wept.
There was no feeling of any remorse
No reason for a change of course.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be,
I saw my whole life in one, two three.
There was no pain or after thoughts,
No last regrets and no what not's.

The angels came and guided me,
I thought only two but there were three.
They surrounded me with their loving wings
You can only imagine what peace it brings.

I died last night while I slept,
And I knew it was coming, as I wept.
There was no feeling of any remorse
No reason for a change of course

Life has its limits, and I had reached mine.
I knew it was coming, I knew it was time.
And though my leaving makes me sad,
I thank the sweet lord for all I had

Spirits that are with me, thanks for your hands
Thanks for your support to the promised lands.
My transition to my new life is all but done,
And I see happiness, love, and fun in the sun.

I died last night while I slept,
And I knew it was coming, as I wept.
There was no feeling of any remorse
No reason for a change of course

Don't weep for me, or mourn my loss,
Don't wish that it never was.
Life has its cycle, we all have our time.
We all have a destiny and this was mine.
