I Do What I Can To Free My Senses Poem by Eric Markisen

I Do What I Can To Free My Senses

you turned your back
and let me fall
i take these pills
and down them with alcohol
and i raise my piece
to the heavens above
cheers to life
and the death of love
to whom to i bestow this honor?
to whom do i inhale?
for me
not you
and the ones who dwell below
