I Don’t Have So How Can I Be? Poem by Laura Venter

I Don’t Have So How Can I Be?

Rating: 5.0

I don’t have much to tell you,
I don’t have much to say,
Simply, because materialism took over our lives today.
I cannot share my qualities,
But you can share your brands.

If you have nothing to be said,
And nothing to show,
I will lend you something,
But you won’t use it if you don’t like the logo.
If you have no food,
I will share with you, my bread,
But these days,
If it’s not the right brand, you’d rather starve instead.
Materials have taken over our everyday life,
Even other humans are items,
Can you look me in the eye, and say that’s right?
Which brings me to your answer?
“I have therefore I am”
This makes me question,
I don’t have so how can I be?
By relying on me,
As a person, with reality.
Not someone dependent on materiality!

Your poem says it all. Nobody cares for anyone but them selves. In one word greed...but we can be different1111111
