I Heard Today That You Were Gone Poem by Paul Warren

I Heard Today That You Were Gone

I heard today you were gone
And wondered why you couldn't carry on
During hard times you were strong
With a shoulder for others to cry upon

But the black dog will hunt you down
Creeping up on you without a sound
Until there is no more for you
And you think that you are through

So for us who are left to grieve
Your loss for us is hard to believe
And we remember the good times together
To hold onto now and forever.
