I Hide My Sadness... Poem by April Darcy

I hide my sadness and loathing behind these blue eyes.
Insecurities fill my mind.
The pain becoming unbearable and the anxiety overwhelming.
The light has been turned off within my soul,
There is nothing left inside.
My inner-self is dark and bleak.
Emptiness is what I feel.
Fear is my knowledge, but no one else knows.
My eyes cold and distant to hide these heavy thoughts.
My heart is locked within my darkened spirit -
Walls around it protect me from further injury.
Love can no longer heal these wounds.
Instead, I have mended and stitched the pieces back together again with hate.
