I Knew Her Before She Became Miss Guy-Did Poem by Floyd Crenshaw

I Knew Her Before She Became Miss Guy-Did

Rating: 1.5

oh,
how awful it felt
watching
each other love
some one else.

the truth was that
we could never be
as much as we needed
regardless of the pleasure
being held in
familiar arms.

there have to be others,
we said.

and then you found one.

it seemed so easy,
but you tell me
it was hell.

i doubted it.

but
now you smile
now you laugh
like he saved you
from riots
and tear bombs

he discovered continuous happiness
then made a lock and key set.

something
i could never do.

some
would rather
believe in deceit
and be happy
living awkwardly aware.

i love you.

i still do.

i am happy for you.

and you said,
'me too.'
