I Know Poem by Eric Rosas Rosas

I Know

It seems like someone's won your heart
It's tearing me apart she slipped away
And I'm just holding on
To all the words she used to say
The pictures in my brain
You were never in my lane

They lied to me, said "Just wait and see"
But time keeps moving, never waits for me

I wish I could join your summers
Look in your eyes like your lover
I wish I could join your summers
And go where you go
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
Can't seem to let you go
Can't seem to hold you close

When I look into my eyes
They don't shine as bright no more, no more
Was love ever a sign?
Never mind, they lied before
Cross my heart and hope to die
Still I'm haunted by goodbye

They lied to me, said "Just wait and see"
But you were never waiting there for me

I wish I could join your summers
Look in your eyes like your lover
I wish I could join your summers
And go where you go
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
Can't seem to let you go
Can't seem to hold you close

All the pictures in my mind
Fade like sunlight lost in time
You were never really mine
But I still dream of summertime

I wish I could join your summers
Chase down the days like no other
I wish I could join your summers
And go where you go
But I know, I know, I know
I have to let you go
