I Know A Girl......... Poem by Jay Alexander

I know a girl with sea-green eyes,
Who's smile reminds me of the sun,
Who's lips are rose-buds wet with dew,
Who's love reflects the summer skies.

She clings to me when'er we kiss, she sighs,
And though we have known hours of bliss,
I like to talk of that and this,
For she is patient, she is wise.

A Moorish castle down in Spain we met one day,
By tinkling fountains and peaceful gardens,
Where in that Moorish heaven,
Roses on gentle breezes sway.

She was free then, with girlish smiles
And ways; a year has passed and she's a woman now,
And though she hasn't lost her girlish plays,
She knows a woman's guiles.

I know a girl with sea-green eyes,
Who lives beside a glass mountain,
And though divided, we are one,
Over forests, lakes and mountains, our dreams fly.
