I Know They Are In The Church Poem by Michael Oluwasegun Adesiji

I Know They Are In The Church

They are in the church
They feed the baskets of God
And never feed that of the people
They are the Peters to Jesus
The Judases to his words

I Know They Are In The Church

Men who will rip through
The petals of skirts
Detaching pants from
The helpless babies' legs
In days again they will go
To raise the holiest of hands
Before the holy one
Of heaven and Earth
Judge us not, they we say
We aren't saints, but men

I Know They Are In The Church

Witnesses who wouldn't
Give blood to their dying kids
Fathers who wouldn't marry
But molest altar kids
Judge us not, they will say
We aren't saints, but men

I Know They Are In The Church

Families who wouldn't eat
From Fareedah's Salah meal
With smiles they'd receive
With hatred, they dash the bin
Judge us not, they will say
We aren't saints, but men

I Know They Are In The Church

Clergymen who wouldn't desist
From the use of voodoos
Initiating rituals
With the organs of men
To God they will say be the glory
After the deed comes paying
Thou shall not judge, they will say
We are all sinners, as men.

I Know They Are In The Church

The Gifts,
Who wouldn't give unto the needy
The lames and blinds they'd snub
With their Tithes and offerings
While going to the Church
To build an Heaven they will return.
With earth and her affairs, thoroughly snubbed
Judge me not, they will say
I am just Gift, a woman from the ribs
Belonging to a Man

I Know They Are In The Mosque

If he is not Muslim, he is not of God
Daggar his neck and seive
His blood for the thirty sands
If he is not for Allah
Then, he is Anti-Allah

I Know They Are In The Mosque

Before the moon, they will bow
Same they will do before the sun
If she's Hannah or Rebecca
She deserves to be gunned
If they seem quite many
Then make a massacre
It's Jihad, feed them
To the lucky grounds

I Know They Are In The Mosque

They will recite the books
Then, kill with fun
Igniting bombs in the name of God
Judge them not, they aren't saints
But, Men doing the will
Of books and the statements
As understood

It would have been a world
Without Wars
And a Nile of blood
If it was all about our existence
Here and not beyond

It would have been a world
Without Wars
And a Nile of blood
If they aren't
In Church or Mosque
But, In Unity and Peace
In Harmony and Love.
