'I'Ll Never Leave You' Poem by Michael P. Johnson

'I'Ll Never Leave You'

My dad left us alone last year
He took another wife
He has for me no time to share
I’m no more in his life

My dad can’t seem to understand
The harm he’s caused and done
But now within Christ Jesus’ hand
Our fight is finally won

My mum and I fare now quite well
At first it may sound odd
Without my dad life seemed like hell
But then came “Father God”

He’s much more like a dad to me
I’d never choose another
In love He came to set us free
And save both me and mother

It’s strange though mountains rise so steep
Though Satan plants his weed
How Father sees we children weep
And comes to meet our need

Now since I’ve known my Heavenly Dad
At home we’ve no-more fear
I’m full of joy my mum’s so glad
God’s dried most every tear

Father I think had always known
My dad would one day leave
Yet soon as we were left alone
God told us not to grieve

I know my Father’s Lord and King
Almighty God above
But He’s my Dad, He’s everything
For whom I’ve so much love.
