I Long To Be Free Poem by Kresta Farr

I Long To Be Free

Why does everyone,
Disapprove of what I do,
Is it become I'm different,
I don't care,
I'm an individual,
I'll do what I want,
I don't care what they think,
As long as I'm happy,
Then I'll be fine,
When they do what they want,
I don't complain,
Why should I care,
It's not my business,
Just as mine is not theirs,
Sometimes it makes me sad or angry,
And then I sit and cry,
'Til all the pain has gone away,
But will soon be back to haunt me,
As they always do,
I long to be free,
Of these chains I'm bearing,
I want them all to go away,
But they won't,
They're here to stay,
So I have to go on,
I'll live my life the same way as always,
Taking each day as it comes,
And longing for it to be over.
