I Look At You Poem by RosaLee Marybeth

I Look At You

Rating: 5.0

I look at you...
I look at you in the mirror and say to myself 'what happened? '
'Why are you the way you are? '
The image speaks back I just can't hear the words.
I try to listen or read the lips of the girl I don't know, but she is talking too fast.
I look at you...
Your hair and teeth- your eyes that speak.
The eyes 'have it' and I see the twisted tails* of a young girl tattered and torn blistered and worn.
I look at you...
I see beauty and hate and the times you were late- wishing, wishing it wouldn't happen again not now, not ever, not tomorrow...
she is filled with such sorrow.
I look at you...
dancing in the rain. without the pain of him ever hurting you again.
I see the tears of joy and loss swell up but not a dropp rolls down your cheek because you feel that is weak.
I look at you...
I see you playing hopscotch, and a smooth stone lands on anger and depression and your stuck on the squares of chained sidewalk chalk.
I look at you...
I see your knees how they are bruised. Why does a child ever need abuse?
I see your hands if only time wasn't going like grains of sand.
I look at you...
I see your face so sweet by it I see your body limp and weak. I see that hand that led -you the ones that fed you- to thread your mouth closed not even to whisper sweet nothings in the air.
I look at you...
I see you become blurry in a cold winters night-without a fight-without a light.
I look at you...
I see darkness, darkness all around without a smile only a frown. He thinks hes a clown saying the worst doing the 'best' boy I hope I pass this test.
I look at you...
I see your hands they will never be clean as you sing songs to yourself and the unseen. You drift away in your fairy tale dreams just to wake up to loud screams.
I look at you...
I see the rage behind the page... The feeling behind the pen, and I see a whole lot of empty in a place in your chest. Where love and happiness could be where merry-go-rounds aren't painful. Where you can be loved and love back.
I look at you...
I see an injured survivor fighting for her life- a life without, but strife and no more sacrifice. I see a hardened heart towards people, the unknown- to love and being grown.
I look at you...
and I see me wishing life was so much more easy. The past is the past but memories will forever last, but remember you are a survivor and you can overcome this like all the other memories.
When I look at me...
I see soon to be tranquility of the mind, heart, and soul. and a filled hole where your new heart will be.
I look at you.
