I Love You Poem by scarlette Phoenix

I Love You

the first time he said it
she couldn't believe it was true
she thought she was dreaming
even though she felt it too

laying in his arms
whispering it in her ear
tight against his chest
it was what she longed to hear

with a shaky voice
filled with uncertainty
all she can manage to say
is 'that's lovely'

holding on tight
afraid he'll push her away
his chest starts to rumble as he laughs
and asks 'is that all you're going to say? '

closing her eyes
shutting them tight
'i'm scared' she replies
'you gave me a fright'

her tummy's messed up
she starts to feel sick
'is this what you're like
when you're not acting like a dick? '

'sweet and gentle
when you're not with your friends
you open up so completely
so it's easy to make amends? '

saying he's sorry
for the way he behaved
'i didn't know how to tell you
it's you that i crave'

staring at her face
trying to see
if she feels the same
could they ever be?

'i love you'
he whispers
a teary smile
is all she offers

but that's enough
to settle his fears
she showed him her love
through her happy tears
