I Love You Poem by Bec Lovelace

I Love You

If only it wasn't so hard
to tell her that I love her
to explain that I'm so sorry
for always doing wrong
our relationship is empty
in which it falls on me
because I'm the one to blame
for all that has gone wrong
I'm sorry for not being perfect
and making you ashamed
it seems that everything I do
has pushed you further away
I really do try to be the best for you
but nothing seems to work
every pathway I have chosen
has always been the worst
or just not good enough
I'm sorry for making
all these mistakes
and hurting you
even more
all I want is to make you happy
and proud to be my Mum
so as I leave this sad poem
all I want to say
is I love you, Mum
and I'm sorry
for being this way.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I may not be a strong poet as many I have seen on here, but I do enjoy writing as it helps me to release the pain and the thoughts in my head.
I have written this poem because of the pain I have caused my mother and the shame I felt at the time for just not being as good as she would of liked me to turn out. Under no circumstances is this a 'suicidal' poem, it is how I felt at the time.
