I Loved You, Once... Poem by Rey Sanidad

I Loved You, Once...

Rating: 5.0

Did you think my heart
Could keep its love unchanging,
Fresh as the flower buds that start
In spring, how strange?
Please do listen! When the buds depart
and birds fly chirping happily.

It is not the puppy love
Where day and night changes,
But still we must move forward
Like earth, that should never fail
For storm or star above.

The bridge I strive to build
With loves labor and passion,
A bridge to your heart I say,
To cross it in those glad days
Eagerly seeking you!
Youth, shining hope, and praise,
Are the gifts I bring to you.

When age's pinching air
strips summer's rich possession,
And baren branches as leaves fall,
my secret in confession
Still thus with you I'll share,
I loved you once, but now...
I love you more than ever.
