I'M All Alone Poem by Nicholas Lim

I'M All Alone

Rating: 5.0

I’m all alone,
Withdrawn from the world below,
Covered in darkness,
Fear creeping over me.

I’m in fear,
Creatures of ferocity appear,
Putting me in a locked room,
What is freedom to me?

I’m in a meadow
With only my shadow,
Patiently thinking, patiently waiting,
When shall I be free?

I’m in envy,
Oh the joyous larks in the tree!
Oh the fish in the sea!
Oh the beasts free on the field!

I’m in solitude,
A machine, working with
Regularity, pausing only when
I break out of this cage,

Into the world I once considered
Illusory heaven.
