I'M Dead

Rating: 5.0

That day, a day with no moon, but stars, when I was walking back from somewhere which is slipped from my mind, on the wall which was on my right hand side I saw a long creepy shadow following my shadow like a hungry wolf following a hare. I was scared and started walking fast and fast. But that creepy shadow was still in the pursuit of my poor shadow.

After a while I was tired and there wasn't anything left to do. So, I turn around anyway (but slowly) to see who owned that ominous shadow.

It was a tall man with a long black coat which dripped down from his shoulders to the ground and faded into the darkness like black smoke. His ancient face seemed frozen like snow. His eyes glowed blue with the pale white light of the flickering street lamps.

I asked with a fearful voice, 'who are you? Why are you following me? ', he replied with a calm and clear voice. 'I'm the death'.

A chill went down my spine as I heard it. So in a terrified voice I asked him, 'oh! Have you come to take my life? '

'No'. The death replied. 'I already took your life long time ago, I only came here to remind you that.'

'But that is impossible! ! ! ' With an amazement I shouted. 'I'm still here.'

“Have you ever wondered why people passing you by never look at you? '
'Have you ever felt that everyone is ignoring you? '

'Yes, I do. But still that is how l always felt. I'm dead! ! It sounds so surreal.'
'I'm not going to believe you'

So the death faded into the darkness with his creepy shadow. And I continued to walk. I continued to walk. I continued to walk.

A vivid truth of life; exquisitely crafted poem. Wonderfully reminds all of us, of the death so close to us but forgotten.
