I'M Here Poem by Chikere Zakka

I'M Here

You were bitter and rude, but I kept talking to you
I never gave up and you became my a part of me too
I found you crying and offered my hand
You didn’t take it but I wasn’t giving up my plan
You asked me once if you were dying, what would I do
I answered simply, “I’d be there for you”
You didn’t trust me but I never let up
I tried to reach you through words but you told me to shut up
I found you curled up in a ball, in pain
I tried to help, but you said we were all the same
I ignored you’re behavior, and looked at your soul
But I found it warm instead of cold
You said you didn’t understand
How could I be such a good friend?
I chuckled and offered my hand again
You took it without a second demand
You asked again how I could be so caring for a friend, care so calmingly
I shook my head and smiled “I don’t have any friends… I only have family.”
