I'M Ready For Life Poem by Katherine Bryce

I'M Ready For Life

What's wrong with me?
I've never cried so much in my life,
as I have in the past few months.
Is it that I'm growing up,
or simply I've become more emotional
based on everything that's happened this year?
But they're not tears of pain,
the opposite actually.
Everything in my life is changing,
changing for the good,
and I couldn't be happier.
I know that someday,
I'll wake up and realize that
my life is turned upside down,
but until then,
I'll just keep smiling,
keep walking
and I won't look back.

I know my worth,
I know my strengths,
so now I stand here
on my own,
and I truly don't care
who stands beside me,
and who walks away.
If they leave and live in pain,
I can only feel bad for them,
but it's up to them,
to see all that's coming
all life has to offer.
I'm ready for life,
so why aren't you?
I thought it was,
'The older,
The wiser.'
Not,
'The younger,
The wiser.'
So just promise me this,
when you cry,
it's tears of joy,
because of all the great things
life has given you.
