I'M Sorry Poem by Rian Pongratz

I'M Sorry

I don't know what I did,
To make you walk away.
All I know for fact,
Is that we'll never be the same.

I can no longer kiss you,
Look into your blue eyes the same.
I can't hold your hand now,
Not since that terrible day.

You simply broke my heart,
Like it's the easiest thing to do.
It's like I didn't matter,
The only thing that did was you.

You can't do something like that,
Then heal the pain with empty words.
What's worse is I still love you,
My broken, beating heart stills yearns.

I'd never call you a mistake,
You're still the best thing in my life.
I just hope that you know,
I still long to be your wife.

I'm sorry I wasn't good enough,
I'm sorry I was 'too old',
I'm sorry that you left me,
For things I can't control.
