I Pray I'll Hear Your Laughter Poem by James Cayce

I Pray I'll Hear Your Laughter

Rating: 5.0

When a hundred thousand starlings
unrehearsed, all dance as one
in graceful, gliding shadows
across the setting sun
each understands their purpose
in the chosen role they take
each trusts the one beside them
with the magic that they make.

They synchronise in silence
they need no one to lead
trust is all they know
and trust is all they need.

When flowers shake off slumber
the moment sunlight looms
and bathe a field in glory
with the splendour of their blooms
humming birds and bees
all revel in their duty
and softly kiss those faces
to propagate their beauty.

There's a mystery to these things
a gravity, of sorts
it's the instinct we both share
in our actions and our thoughts.

So dance the dance of life with me
the steps we'll improvise
melodies may come and go
but music, never dies.
I'll walk you to that dance floor
I'll be mindful of your toes
while we waltz the world together
in that way the starling knows.

And when the spotlight dims
and we reach the final pause
I pray I'll hear you laughter
and the sound of your applause.

A beautiful poem, particularly the starlings. This would be amazing for weddings.

Thank you Lyn. As a matter of fact I wrote it for a nephew who's about to be married.
