I Remember Your Heart Poem by robyn selters

I Remember Your Heart

I remember as if
'twas yesterday
a happy time
spontaneous play

of sharing yearnings
concepts dreams
I never thought
I'd see the day

when you had left
your tender self
a kindness gentle rare

and in your place
a hardened face
with words that hurt
and burn my soul
took that holy space

have you gone
the one I love
and long to see again

your cherished handsome
lovely face
aglow with life
your eyes encase

can I dare to dream
that somewhere you are
living still

or have you left
my dearest one
truly gone
without a trace
